NATIONAL Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Adamu Muazu Thursday told the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, G5 Governors who dumped the party for All Progressives Congress, APC that they were embarking on what he described as an unsuccessful sojourn.
Speaking at Wadata Plaza, PDP National Secretariat when he received the Katsina State delegation of the PDP led by the governor Ibrahim Shema, Muazu who pleaded with them to return to PDP family, said, “I appeal to those our members who have been wronged and decided to embark on a journey that is not successful to come back home.”
Urging PDP members, leaders, stakeholders of the party not to relent in praying for PDP and its leaders, said, “you know we have lost members, but through your prayers, I will succeed in recovering all lost ground.”
Reiterating that he would deepen democracy in the party and that only the best in the party shall be presented for election,said, “If you want to win nomination go and canvass for votes. Preach to them; convince and where necessary confuse them.”
Speaking earlier, Katsina State governor, Ibrahim Shema, who noted that PDP and Katsina were inseparable, boasted that PDP remains a party of choice for them in Katsina, adding, “We are PDP and we will continue to serve the course of Nigeria. In other states, PDP flag is not flying as in Katsina state.”
The governor who described Muazu as “PDP recharged engine”, however wished him well in his efforts at reforming the PDP.
Also, the Adamawa Elders, Leaders and Stakeholders Forum of Adamawa State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP paid a solidarity visit on Muazu.
It was gathered that the Adamawa leaders and Elders Forum led by former Minster of Education, Senator Jubril Aminu had a closed door meeting with the PDP National Chairman and some members of the National Working Committee, NWC where they intimated them on the unfolding political scenario in the State which led to the defection of the governor, Admiral Murtala Nyako from PDP to APC.
