A complainant, Mrs Grace Frederick, on Monday told a Surulere Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, that an accused tore off her pants and assaulted her in front of the neighbours.
She said that she was on her way to fetch water when the accused started calling her names in front of their landlord.
Frederick said that the assault happened in her bid to report the previous encounter with the accused and her behaviour toward her to the landlord.
She said that during the fight, the accused pulled off a chunk of her hair and also used razor blade to cut her all over her body.
The accused, Chioma Obeta, 20, a housewife, was arraigned on July 25, 2013, on a two-count charge of assault on a co-tenant.
The prosecutor, Cpl. Gbenga Salami, had earlier told the court that the accused on July 20, 2013, at No. 10 Abata Close, Orile, assaulted Frederick by pulling off a chunk of her hair.
He said that the accused bit the complainant Frederick all over her body and also used a razor blade to cut her on her right leg.
The Magistrate, Mrs F.B. Lawal, adjourned the case to April 3 for continuation of trial.
