One of the children of the late Chief Bola Ige, Muyiwa, has said that his comments about those who killed his father have sent jitters down Senator Iyiola Omisore’s spines.
Ige was murdered in his Ibadan home in 2001 while serving as Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation.
According to a report by PUNCH, Muyiwa, who spoke during an interaction with journalists in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, on Tuesday, said he did not mention Omisore’s name but that he made allusions to the Senator in response to Omisore’s media aide, Mr. Diran Odeyemi.
Muyiwa, who is the Commissioner for Lands and Physical Planning in Osun State, said that he never met Omisore until he came back to Nigeria whereas Omisore had on Monday claimed that he paid his (Muyiwa) fees while schooling abroad.
Ige’s son had said in Lagos on Sunday that the ghost of his father would continue to haunt his killers.
He stated that he never mentioned Omisore or anybody’s name but was surprised that Omisore, who is a governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun, flared up and called him a bastard.
He said that he was in the cabinet of Governor Rauf Aregbesola to serve the people of the state and not to amass wealth, which he said was the erroneous belief of those he described as ‘debased minds.’
He said, “We do not need to expend energy on this imbecilic vituperation. Somebody came around yesterday and called himself a bastard and not me.
“He said he paid my fees. I never met him (Omisore) before I came back to Nigeria. Where is the receipt of the fees he paid? My father was not rich but he was not a poor person.
“All I said was that the ghost of Ige would continue to haunt his killers and then he became jittery. I believe the ghost is at work already. It is true; the ghost of Ige will continue to haunt them, if you are the killer well you are on your own.He said he was a doctor in 1999 in his nomination form. Ask him now if he never did.
“Bola Ige did not kill himself; he didn’t assault himself on December 15, 2001. We should ask questions about these. The issue of Bola Ige’s killing will not go away easily. God, who is the ultimate judge, who saw it before it happened will judge.”
Omisore had claimed that he paid Muyiwa’s fees while he was schooling abroad.
Odeyemi said, “It is unfortunate that Muyiwa, who Otunba Omisore paid his fees, is now being used to disparage him. We even doubt his paternity because he is not behaving like his father.
“Muyiwa is acting the conspiracy theory script handed over to him by some people. Is he doing this because of the position he is holding? The late Chief Bola Ige was a fearless man who stood for the truth at all times, irrespective of who is affected.”
