Jail For Gays: An Insane Legislation That Murders Right To Privacy, Freedom Of Association

 
In a strong word, I condemn the Nigerian government, The National Assembly and President for the inhumane and insane legislation criminalizing the right of people to choose the sexual orientation they prefer to pursue.
 
In my disapproval to this devilish Act, I submit that as a Nation, Nigeria must separate religion from state, and allow human right to take its course of full application.
 
That President Goodluck Jonathan, a man so learned up to doctoral level would give his presidential assent to an evil Act seeking to criminalise people not because they have committed a crime against anyone, but freely choosing who they want as partner is a very stupid move in 2014.
 
The Nigerian nation is presently submerged in different rivers of corruption, threatening to overflow the very essence of our national bank, yet the Government did not deem it fit to enforce, strengthen or pass legislation that will clamp the overgrown wings of this monster, instead they seek a more politically correct diversion, a route some of them walk in their nights.
 
Nigeria is a signatory to the United Nations Convention and Africa Charter on Human Rights which includes universally agreed right to private life and freedom of association. These rights are currently under threat in Nigeria today. We cannot allow this madness to stand.
 
Let me send a notice to the Nigerian Government that I will challenge this Human Right infringement in court of law. It certainly will not stand. This is not a case for LGBT community alone, its a case that borders on peoples right to live freely and peacefully in a country they call theirs.
 
Let the government do the right thing by making amends before its too late.

Justice And The Killer Cop

  NOT surprisingly, and for good reasons too, security agencies, in particular the Nigeria Police, have been placed on the spot by local and international human rights communities for their highhandedness in dealing with suspects in custody or at points of arrest. Quite a number of extra-judicial killings and tortures in these circumstances have been highlighted by the local media too.    Against this background, the judgment of the Bayelsa State High Court, Nembe Division, sitting in Yenagoa, delivered by Justice Lucky Boufili sending killer policeman, Matthew Egheghe, to the gallows is most welcome. 20 Corpses Of Ritual Victims Uncovered, 23 Rescued In Oyo

  OYO-NIGERIA : About 20 bodies of people believed to have been killed for ritual purposes were discovered, yesterday, in Soka, Oluyole local government area of Oyo State.    Also, 18 men and five women, believed to have been bewitched and bound with fetters in a dungeon, were found and rescued. Read report via VANGUARD :   The rescued victims looked emaciated. One of the women was said to have been delivered of a baby who was sold to a waiting buyer among those who always thronged the secluded area at night to buy human parts.  Some of the captives were too weak to tell their stories.  It was gathered that some Fulani cattle rearers grazed their cattle in the bush around the area.
