South Africa's first black president and anti-apartheid icon,  President Nelson Mandela is dead and this day (5/12/2013) would forever be noted in the World.

President Jacob Zuma announced that the beloved icon died peacefully at his Johannesburg home on Thursday after a prolonged lung infection. See a quoted announcement below.

"Fellow South Africans, our beloved Nelson Rohlihlahla Mandela, the founding president of
our democratic nation, has departed," Zuma said in a nationally televised address.
"Our people have lost a father. Although we knew this day was going to come, nothing can
diminish our sense of a profound and enduring loss. His tireless struggle for freedom earned
him the respect of the world. His humility, passion and humanity, earned him their love,"

Mandela the ex-boxer, lawyer, prisoner of apartheid, who spent nearly one third of his life as an inmate would be remembered for his generous spirit, a global symbol of sacrifice and reconciliation in a world jarred by hate, war, conflict and division.

The world has lost one of the great figures of modern history, astonishing grace and humour. this particular word of his would forever leave in my my memory and shows how fair and upright he was
.
"During my lifetime I have dedicated myself to this struggle of the African people. I have
fought against white domination, and I have fought against black domination.

Mandela emerged from 27 years in apartheid prisons to help guide South Africa through bloodshed and turmoil to democracy. He was elected president in landmark all-race elections in 1994 and retired in 1999. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993.

The company’s scientists used genes from a number of plants to create this surprising species of transgenic corn, described as “more efficient than any penis-enlarging pill”.
