The Limited Rockstar Beer : 2Face Idibia And Tiwa Savage Unveils Rockstar

Nigeria’s top music acts, 2Face Idibia and Tiwa Savage, joined Star, Nigeria’s premium brand, to launch an exciting new limited edition 60cl bottle of the lager brand, aptly called The Rockstar, at Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The launch of the trendy new look bottle on Wednesday comes after weeks of speculation and highly publicised digital campaign overtaking all social media platforms and inspiring a now popular catch phrase for all that is daring, witty and vibrant- musicinbottle.

Walter Drenth, Marketing Director, Nigerian Breweries Plc, said at the launch that this is another major achievement for Star Music which has become a leader in innovation and exciting change.
“As a first choice lager, STAR as always, offers an exciting platform once again for its fun, youthful and energetic consumers who ‘dare to shine’,” Drenth said.

According to him, “the new bottle is a worthy addition to the Star Music family – our premium music and lifestyle platform- and a major achievement for us. We know that our consumers will cherish and appreciate it always.”

The two music stars, 2Face and Tiwa Savage, apart from unveiling the new bottle, added the requisite ‘Star Factor’ to the night’s activities hosted by Lynxx, another popular rap artiste.

Select guests from the business, entertainment, telecoms and media circles who were present at the launch had no inkling of Star’s surprise, which until the moment of unveiling, was shrouded in secrecy and only heightened the excitement.

“I like the fact that Star always leads in innovation and they don’t relent in that as well. They try to use different platforms to appeal to their consumers,” noted Toni Kan.

“The new ‘Rockstar’ is trendy, unique and very appealing. Now if this is how the brand ‘sees its consumers’, well, I must say, this is really a very good thing,” added  Ogbehi Igbinovia, an IT consultant present at the event.

The new limited edition Star bottle comes in full body sleeves that would excite and engage consumers.

It will be available at specific bars and clubs from 1 November to 31 December, as well as at select outlets across the country. See pics after the cut...

Justice And The Killer Cop

NOT surprisingly, and for good reasons too, security agencies, in particular the Nigeria Police, have been placed on the spot by local and international human rights communities for their highhandedness in dealing with suspects in custody or at points of arrest. Quite a number of extra-judicial killings and tortures in these circumstances have been highlighted by the local media too.    Against this background, the judgment of the Bayelsa State High Court, Nembe Division, sitting in Yenagoa, delivered by Justice Lucky Boufili sending killer policeman, Matthew Egheghe, to the gallows is most welcome. It is a bold statement that the law frowns at cruelty by uniformed officers of the state and that an appropriate premium is placed on life by the Nigerian state.   That judgment would not bring back the dead, but it should to some extent console their grieving families that justice was served to the guilty. It would equally serve as a deterrent to trigger-h...
