Lawal Babafemi, also known as  “Ayatollah Mustafa,” a Nigerian terror suspect was arraigned before a United States Federal Courtroom on Friday{27-09-2013} based on accusation for trying to help Al-Qaeda in Yemen. Controversial and billionaire business man, Jimoh Ibrahim was ordered by US District Judge Katherine to pay over $10 million for breach of contract between himself and US company, Aersale Inc. Jimoh Ibrahim failed to meet his obligations on two aircraft he personally leased for the operation of his defunct airline, Air Nigeria which was grounded and the airline’s air worthiness certificate revoked by Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority {NCAA}.  He is to pay up an initial $8 million owed to Aersale Inc., the owners of the leased aircraft.                       ICPC operatives caught and publicly reported a lowly civil service staff in alleged receipt of  bribe and process for arraigning the staff is on and this action shows their is hope that government intends to fight corruption as promised.   According to news reports and radio personality, Jimi Disu: one Abbah Adikwu, a Grade Level 07 officer with the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC), Abuja, allegedly kept on demanding bribe before doing his legitimate duty. Another civil servant (names not mentioned) had, according to the report, been visiting the suspect’s office since 2012, his mission was to regularise his appointment. But each time, Adikwu allegedly always stonewalled his efforts, allegedly insisting on gratification before doing his job.   I guess if ICPC keeps the good work, then it is a good sign for a better Nigeria.

This is long over due, Aviation Authorities stated on Tuesday that Chinese Civil Engineering Construction Corporation, CCECC, has started  building new terminal  at the Lagos and Port Harcourt international airports.   The new terminal in Port Harcourt is being constructed in addition to the on-going remodelling of the old terminal at the airport and CCECC contractors have moved to the site with some equipment and have begun preliminary engineering works. “The project is expected to be completed in one year according to the project engineer , Mr. Lee,”as mentioned by Yakubu Dati, spokesperson of The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN.   The Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi had accused the Ministry Of Aviation of neglecting Port Harcourt airport because of the rift between him and President, considering the fact that attention is given to Port-Harcourt airport as well, could Governor Amaechi be wrong or its just mere political rift?

Some British citizens are currently not happy that the aid extended to Nigeria by their country are being stolen or mismanaged and have accused their government for fuelling corruption in Nigeria. Chatham House, a think-tank group and home of the Royal Institute of International Affairs reported that United Kingdom had doled out more than £1billion in aid to Nigeria, while Nigeria's corrupt officials allow £2billion of oil to be shipped out illegally and stolen every year and further stated, the aid may not be going to those who need it most after all.
