ADDRESS BY H.E. MUHAMMADU BUHARI, PRESIDENT OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA ON THE COVID- 19 PANDEMIC SUNDAY 29TH MARCH, 2020 1. Fellow Nigerians, 2. From the first signs that Coronavirus, or COVID-19 was turning into an epidemic and was officially declared a world-wide emergency, the Federal Government started planning preventive, containment and curative measures in the event the disease hits Nigeria. 3. The whole instruments of government are now mobilized to confront what has now become both a health emergency and an economic crisis. 4. Nigeria, unfortunately, confirmed its first case on 27th February 2020. Since then, we have seen the number of confirmed cases rise slowly. 5. By the morning of March 29th, 2020, the total confirmed cases within Nigeria had risen to ninety-seven. 6. Subscription Fee Increase! FRN v. Multichoice: CPC Sets Up Complaint Desk for DSTV Subscribers

The Consumer Protection Council (CPC) is setting up a special channel for receiving complaints from DSTV and GOTV subscribers who have been unable to renew their subscription at their bouquet prevailing price as at July 31, 2018. The CPC noted that the above measure become necessary following Multichoice’s deliberate disobedience of court order restraining them from increasing their subscription rate or prices, pending the determination of an application before the court. In a statement issued by the DG of CPC Mr. Babatunde Irukera, consumers experiencing the above challenges are advised to send an email to  multichoicecompliance@cpc.gov.ng , stating relevant information, including smart card number, name, telephone number, date and time of failed attempt to pay, supporting same with relevant evidence such as a screenshot or document (where necessary). One feared killed, 50 trapped as building collapses in Abuja

A three-storey shopping complex under construction in the Jabi area of Abuja has collapsed killing, one person and leaving about 50 others trapped. Emergency workers are battling to rescue of of the survivors of the incidents. The incident occurred around 1:30pm. A source said children and food hawkers were among those trapped in the building.

Max Lomas, the friend who discovered Bobbi Kristina Brown unconscious in her bathtub in 2015, after an overdose, has reportedly died of an apparent drug overdose. TMZ reports that Lomas was rushed to the hospital after he was found unresponsive on the bathroom floor at a friend’s house in Mississippi on Wednesday, August 15. Along with Bobbi Kristina’s then-boyfriend Nick Gordon, Lomas found Bobbi Kristina unresponsive in her tub in January 2015. . The daughter of the late Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown was subsequently hospitalized and placed in a medically induced coma. She died six months later in July at the age of 21. Back in February 2012, Houston was also found dead in her bathtub at the Beverly Hills hotel. She was 48 years old.

A 22-year-old man, Yusuf Hassan, has been apprehended for chopping off the hand of his friend, Abubakar Umar, with a machete, during a fight over one Habiba, on Wednesday, in Dakwa, Abuja. Dailytrust quoted Umar as saying Habiba had relocated with her parents from Kaduna, some months ago, and that before they could get a room to rent, he gave his room to them as a temporary shelter and relocated to his friend’s room. “My friend, Yusuf, started developing interest in the lady. That was how I started having problem with him to the extent that he once warned me that it could be the reason for him to terminate my life. PhD students of the Department of Mass Communication at the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (formerly Anambra State University), were shocked, yesterday, when their lecturer walked into the class, dressed like a lady. According to Massmediang, the lecturer was to teach a topic on “Culture shock and gender issues,” hence his dressing. NFF Crisis: FIFA rejects Dalung’s visit

World’s Football governing body, FIFA have turned down a proposed visit by a Nigerian delegation, led by the Minister for Sports, Solomon Dalung, in a bid to discuss the ongoing leadership tussle rocking the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). Ajayi said that Ahmed Imam of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) scored 2, 916 votes, while the candidates of the Accord Party and Alternative Democratic Congress (ADC) scored 149 votes and 2,984 votes, respectively.
